History of UAE National Day

UAE National Day is a national holiday celebrated on December 2 each year in the United Arab Emirates. The day marks the occasion when the UAE gained independence from British rule back in 1971. On this date, all across the UAE, citizens come together to celebrate the nation’s heritage and culture in a festive spirit. The event started with a decree issued by President Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, which stipulated that both December 2nd and July 15th be celebrated as national holidays. This was done to honor two important dates in UAE’s history: December 2nd marked the anniversary of independence from Britain while July 15th marked its accession into the United Arab Emirates. The festivities begin well before actual National Day with traditional exhibitions, art galleries, and film screenings taking place in various locations throughout the nation itself. There are also large concerts and parades filled with people dressed up in traditional Emirati clothing to mark this special day. This includes colorful floats showcasing achievements made by locals since independence was granted especially economic growth during this period of time. Other events during this time include fireworks displays, poetry readings about Emirati culture, traditional dances, falconry demonstrations, competitions such as sand rose making contests and more! Drones are also used for some powerful visuals accompanying these celebrations on National Day. On its 51st anniversary year of 2020, UAE has taken an additional step towards reinforcing positivity due to Covid-19 Pandemic globally by releasing special ‘UAE Unity’ coins that pay tribute to diverse ethic representations within their own country too – really inspiring!

In addition to all these festivities are engaging campaigns designed by government authorities not just to instill patriotism but also facilitate understanding of different cross-cultural dialogues & stories apart from simple slogans or language regardless of one’s nationality or religion making it even more inclusive day & deserves an honor!

Government Initiatives for UAE National Day

As we celebrate the 51st UAE National Day, it is important to recognize the efforts of the government, from traditional rulers to modern leaders, that have enabled the United Arab Emirates to become a prosperous nation with an increasingly positive global footprint. UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has been described by some as, “the architect of progress and founder of modern-day UAE”. He is widely credited for making the Gulf country what it is today – a nation with one of highest per capita income in the world. Since assuming his office in 2004, Sheikh Khalifa has enacted various policies and initiatives that have created positive development across sectors. The establishment of permanent Trade Representation Offices in many countries around the world was one notable move as it allowed regional entities to be involved in international trade and create diplomatic ties with other countries. The Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030 unveiled during this same period focused on diversifying away from oil-based revenue generation and developing other growth opportunities. Under His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s stewardship, Dubai experienced considerable improvements in job creation, regional connectivity and tourism activities while still maintaining its excellent infrastructure. Major projects such as Dubai Metro, Al Maktoum International Airport and Burj Khalifa are a testament to his ambitious vision for Dubai. The Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone (RAKEZ), led by His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi has also had tremendous success over recent years by providing access to reliable custom services as well as friendly regulations that encourage entrepreneurship and innovation among startups looking to operate in the Emirate at competitive costs. These are just a few examples cited here of how UAE Government initiatives benefit its citizens; many more exist throughout our nation each day!
